Time Gets Away

It is amazing how quickly time gets away from us. We have been back from Vancouver just over a week and it feels like I never left. Our classes are filling up and we are excited about the coming spring. Lots in store for us at Needleworks.
I wanted to add a few pictures.....so here goes.

These are pictures of two recent students who completed their Quilter's Primer class. In this class students stitch 6 (12") blocks, join them with sashing and borders, layer, quilt and add binding. I have found this method to be the best for beginner students. There are not that many decisions to make other than chosing fabrics, which leads to greater success. And believe it or not, its all done in 5 weeks (3 hours each) with a bit of homework.

I have also completed custom quilting a quilt this week. This is a lovely quilt to work on. Once I got into the rhythm of things....it just flowed.

A closer look of the quilting.
The back....now you can see the quilt details. I used Wonderfil Silco Multi thread for the front and back. Blends beautifully.

Now all I have to do is finish the next quilt on the table....this has taken a very long time....and get to the pile I have stacking up. I'll try to post more pictures of custom quilts on the web page as I complete them.

Just had to show off Astrid's Winter Ice Stash Buster Quilt Top. We will be working on the Chocolate Delight this Friday evening and I'll have more pictures to show.

I'm back

What a wonderful weekend we had. We took two days to drive to Vancouver from Calgary and then another two days to drive home. I visited a number of sewing stores....bought a whack of books, some notions and yarn for more socks! I even knit 3/4 of a sock for an up coming birthday present! Now to find the time to do the other one!

As promised...pictures....now I can't find my camera!!!!

Vancouver

We arrived yesterday! We drove on Thursday to Hope and then worked our way into Vancouver yesterday. Hit a few quilt shops on the way and today we go downtown to check out the fashion fabric stores....then on the Granville Island and the market!

Jerry has already been out twice this morning with the dogs and taken them for walks. He is enjoying the relaxed timed. I don't think I have wound down yet. Still too wired from working long hours. I am having trouble with the twilight time of the day. Haven't been out in the late afternoon or early evenings in months as I have been teaching most afternoons and evenings.

Kasey is Kasey. Her apartment is very cute. I have brought her a sewing machine and I am sure she'll be sewing some stuff for her apartment soon. She has a baby quilt planned for a friend. We'll see if we can get some rotary cutting tools today and some fabric for her. She'll be sewing up a storm in no time.

We went to Stella's Tapas Bar last night for supper and ate the best creme brule I have ever had!!!! Never again will I think of that jelly blob that most think of as creme brule. I did take a picture, but it was of the empty bowl!!! We also had a couple of other tapas......mussels, brie, wontons and hummus!!!! Great.

Road Trip!

If all goes well, Jerry and I will be off to Vancouver tomorrow morning. We are going to celebrate our engagement anniversary and to visit Kasey, our youngest daughter. We have a rental to drive and are looking forward to a whole day (or two) of not being able to do anything! I plan to take some needles and yarn and get started on a pair of socks for my Son In Law for his birthday....maybe read a book....and definately sleep along the way.

I have a list of shops to visit and want to see how things are done on the west coast!

I'll take pictures and post them when I get back.
